My Goals For Term 1

       
Reading: My goal for reading is to know how to make use of previous knowledge. i will do this by note taking and finding the main idea of the text.  


Writing: My goal for writing is to learn more punctuation. I will do this by studying different types of punctuation.


Maths: My goal for maths is to learn how to add decimals together without using an algorithm. I will do this by learning new strategies to help.  


Other: I would like to get higher scores in the beep test. I would like to go up in 5s. 5.5-6-6.5-7 and so on.

Behaviour: My goal for behaviour is to stop talking when I'm not meant to. I will do this by focusing on my work.      

2015

This year has been fun and its gone fast as well. I have achieved things and Im proud of them. I have achieved in putting my effort into work and I have put a lot of effort in sport. I have successed in maths because I understand now how to add and subtract them. I am very proud of sport because I think that I have done my best and succeeded very well. I am also proud of writing cause I know how to write simple and complex sentences.I wish I had focused more on reading and getting to know more words. I also wish I had worked harder  on maths and understanding fractions even though I know how to add and subtract them. I want to focus more on reading for homework next year because I need to get into the habit of reading each night. I have achieved some goals but not a lot. I wish I had set more goals to achieve. My goal for next year would probably be to beat my old score in the beep test. In 10 years time I hope to be at university training/studying to be a veterinarian.

I can't wait until alt ed.i forgot what it's called but Kelly's in it as well.i hope you get into the one you chose. I didn't I got my first choice but I'm really happy with my second choice.

Reading- My goal for reading is to understand different words and know their meanings and I will dot his by practising and knowing different words.

Writing-My goal for writing is to write a narrative with great descriptive words and I will do this by finding more words and understanding there meanings.

Maths-My goal for maths is to understand fractions and how to add or subtract from them and I will do this by practising more at home.

Sport-My goal for sport is to beat my score in the beep test and I will do this by getting better at running.

Shark Culling Speech

                Would you care if the entire species of sharkswas gone? Well, I know that hearing about the shark attacks are tragic but it doesnt give us the right to go ahead and kill every single shark  living in the ocean.It isnt their fault that they think we look like seals and it definetely isnt their fault that we swim in there territory.Sharks are amazing creatures and we dont need to kill them.

What is shark culling?
Shark culling is when fishermen put baited hooks known as drumlines are set over several summers in order to catch and kill sharks.up to 700 sharks are killed each year and over 90% of shark populations have been destroyed-including whites.In the 1960s two fatal shark attacks were reported in Western Australia.One of the shark attack was based on Mr Groves who was taken after falling overboard while boating off the De Grey river.After the shark attacks the western australian shark cull program started.

Why we need sharks

The world cannot afford to lose sharks.Sharks are a critical component in our ecosystem that controls our planets weather and temperature.Sharks provide 1/3 of the world with food and genorates more oxygen than all the rainforest combined.We need sharks on this planet and as sharks are apex predators they help keep the oceans healthty and clean.Sharks have been around for a long time.Infact,sharks have been around for 450 million years.

Fishermen are being paid a seriouse amount of money.They get payed $610.00 for 107 days of work.Thats alot of money just for killing sharks.Sharks are used in many things such as medicine,make-up,jewellry,pet-products and many more.In China and Japan they eat a type of soup.The soup is known as shark fin soup.People say that the soup is tastless and chewy.The fins for the soup are harvested by a process known as shark finning.After the fishermen are done with the sharks they throw them back into the water where they cant hunt or breathe.

Mistaken Identity 
sharks have the same senses as us.They only attack if they feel threatened. A shark mistakes a surfer for a seal beacause of the shape of the board and person combined together.A shark attacks a fisherman when they smell the fish and bait nearby.

Shark culling is terrible and we dont need to do it for revenge.You are more likely to die from a coconut falling on your head rather than a shark attack.Shark culling is not the answer and we need to stop it.Will you care when all of the sharks are gone and there wont be any left to help keep the oceans healthy and clean.Thank you for listening to my speech.
